Looking After Your Luscious Hair Extensions: Boost The Life of Your Extensions With These Top Tips From Our Lead Hair Extension Artist

Your aftercare routine will play a vital role in the longevity of your Luscious Hair Extensions & we want you to get the most out of them, which is why it is so important to understand how to look them correctly.

DO NOT USE PRODUCTS WITH SODIUM CHLORIDE OR KERATIN IN THEM, AS THEY CAN BREAK DOWN YOUR EXTENSIONS ATTACHMENTS AS WELL AS RUIN THE HAIR.

Washing Your Luscious Hair Extensions

Always brush your extensions to detangle gently before washing.
Use our recommended Microtexx shampoo (MOISTURE ACTIVE CLEANSER - NO.1 ) & conditioner (MOISTURE ACTIVE MILK - NO.2). The formulations in these products are perfect for our extensions and will add moisture to them, keeping them looking better for longer.
Gently lather the Microtexx Moisture Active Cleanser until hair is clean then rinse thoroughly under warm water.
Apply Microtexx Moisture Active Milk, leave for 3-5 minutes and then rinse. When applying this conditioner, cover your extensions only - away from the roots of your natural hair .
Always tilt head back when washing. Do not put head upside down in a sink as this will rough the cuticles the opposite way.
Squeeze out excess water using a microfibre towel or a cotton t-shirt, and gently pat dry. DO NOT RUB.
After you have taken most of the moisture out, apply Microtexx Instant Creme Protector - No. 3 before blow-drying your hair on a low setting.
For best results, use an ionic hairdryer.
We strongly suggest only using the products recommended in the Microtexx range as we know their formulations work well with our extensions.

Keeping Your Extensions Hydrated

Unlike natural hair, your extensions don’t produce oil at their roots. This means they need your help to stay nourished, hydrated and moisturised. To do this,

Using Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatments On Your Luscious Hair Extensions

As well as your recommended Microtexx Moisture Active Cleanser & Milk, you should also be applying a regular intensive treatment to your hair extensions. The one we recommend is the Microtexx Reconstructive Masque. Hair extensions receive no natural oils from the scalp to help keep them soft and healthy, therefore it’s your job to supply this moisture to your hair. The best way to achieve this is with the Microtexx products.

It is recommended that hair extensions are treated with intensive treatments at least once a week to help keep them in their best possible condition.

Wearing Your Luscious Hair Extensions at Night

Never, under any circumstances, sleep with your hair extensions wet or damp. Damp or wet hair extensions promote tangles and in worst case scenarios cause matting, therefore before you sleep make sure your hair extensions are 100% dry. To avoid knots and matting, we recommend loosely plaiting your hair before bed, and wearing a silk bonnet to sleep in. We also recommend using a 100% silk pillowcase which will help prevent matting because of the smooth surface which promotes less friction.

Attending Regular Hair Extension Maintenance Appointments

Always keep up to date with your maintenance appointments with your Luscious Hair Extensions artist. These are recommended every 4-5 weeks and are very important when it comes to keeping your hair extensions looking great and being in a healthy condition.

Swimming With Your Luscious Hair Extensions

We don’t recommend swimming chlorine or salt water if you have hair extensions however if you’re a beach babe who just can’t live without the water, to reduce damage we recommend soaking your hair with fresh water and sealing with Microtexx Crème Protector no. 3 to keep absorption of sea or pool water to a minimum. This will keep your hair moisturised and glossy, and will prevent any tangles until you get home and give it a proper wash.

Alternatively, wear a cap when swimming or keep your hair extensions out of the water.

Chlorine and salt water will dry out your hair extensions, so wash your hair as soon as possible after swimming!
